So it took James and I months to come up with a name for this blog. He liked names I didn't. I liked names he didn't. The names we both liked were already taken.
We stumbled across Truce Be Told on my birthday. James took me out to brunch and we enjoyed a slow and fabulous two-hour meal while brainstorming ideas.
I immediately fell for Truce Be Told. James wasn't as convinced. "It sounds negative and argumentative," he complained. I thought he might be right. But it was my idea so of course I tried to convince him otherwise. "It's clever. And catchy," I told him. "And it's just what our marriage blog entails: telling stories of compromise."
I'm not sure if it was because of my persuasiveness or the fact that it was my birthday, but James finally caved. Truce Be Told it would be. The first armistice of our blogging life.

Truce Be Told is born
So my husband, James, and I decided to start a blog about, well, us. Egocentric, I know. But isn't that the very definition of a blog? Plus, I promise it's not as self-centered as it sounds. Or at least I hope it's not.
We're not totally new to blogging. James has got a blog about his disturbing collecting habits. (More on this later. Much more. Trust me.) And I started a blog a year or so ago for posting poems, pictures and random thoughts. Notice I'm not giving away the URL here. It's the kind of embarrassing stuff only parents and drunk people could adore.
So anyway, we decided to start a blog about us, our marriage and the trials and tribulations of relationships in general. We've been married just under three years (still somewhat newlyweds), and we decided we couldn't be the only couple on the planet who thinks their other half is both completely insane and completely perfect. Thus, our blog.
Here, you'll find he-said/she-said stories about marriage, family and life. I can't say what topics this blog will or won't cover. But I promise you, if it's happening in our lives you'll read about it here. (There's your "out" people. Don't want to know more than you already do about the Powells? Don't hit the "subscribe" button.)
